Introduction to accelerated mobile pages (AMP)

According to Google, more than 50% of website visits are terminated if a page takes longer than three seconds to load. To find out how you can speed up your mobile web pages, watch this video.

Hi everyone, in this video I'm going to be talking about how to enable accelerated mobile pages, also known as AMP, to your recruitment website.

You may be asking - What is AMP? Well, it's a project from Google and Twitter designed to make really fast mobile pages.

Basically, it’s a way to strip down or streamline the amount of HTML and CSS it takes to render a page, therefore making files smaller and loading the pages faster and optimised for mobile devices.

So why would you want to do this? Well, did you know that studies have shown that 75% of mobile sites take 10 or more seconds to load, yet more than 50% of website users would terminate a page if it takes longer than three seconds to load.

Consider this with the fact that 40% of users would move to a competitors site after going through a poor user experience on a mobile website and this will hopefully make you realise the importance of having fast mobile webpages.

So - if AMP is sounding appealing right now, here is how to enable it on your recruitment website.

From the top menu in the admin screen, go to Your Website and then within the SEO section, go to AMP.

Then, in the top right hand corner of this page, you will find the ON/OFF toggle where you can turn AMP on and off.

Once you have turned AMP on, you will receive a notification message confirming that AMP has been Enabled.

You will now have super fast mobile web pages and all in all a better user experience for your website visitors.
