Hello from Tom
I wanted to start this month's newsletter with a warm welcome to Rachael, who has joined us as our Head of Marketing bringing with her a wealth of industry knowledge.
With only a few weeks left of 2019, I can reflect back on a very busy year, with the highlight for everyone here at Volcanic being joining the Access family in February. 2020 looks set to be even busier with Indeed potentially mixing up the recruitment market and the ever growing presence of Google for Jobs.
Our Christmas opening times for the UK office -
Office closes for Christmas on 24th December at 1pm
Office reopens at 9am on 2nd January 2020
Have a great Christmas and New Year everyone!
Candidate attraction: a new approach
We recently held a roundtable event with our partners at Talent Nexus, discussing a new approach to candidate attraction following the rumour that Indeed is switching off organic (free) traffic to recruitment agencies.
We’d like to say thank you to all of our clients who joined in on the discussion and offered their opinions on the issue and insight into how they are currently tackling candidate attraction.
Here were just a few of the key findings from our discussion:
There was a real lack of consistency across agencies as to the anticipated impact the potential switch off could have on their business, however few had a plan in place to deal with it when it happens.
Data is still so important, but the type of data that matters to different agencies varies. What data matters to you? We’d love to know.
A key topic of discussion was whether or not recruitment consultants should have control over job advertising spend or whether it should remain in the control of recruitment marketers.
To hear about the discussion in more detail, check out our webinar which has been hosted by the Recruiter.

Following popular demand, we are planning on running a second Volcanic roundtable on the topic of the Indeed traffic switch off, again in partnership with Talent Nexus, but this time in Manchester!
As we're planning this we'd love to hear from our clients about what would work best for you. Get in touch with either your account manager or the Marketing team at firstname.lastname@example.org. We're interested to know:
Team Volcanic are thrilled to welcome our new Head of Marketing, Rachael Moss.
Volcanic is the next step in Rachael’s impressive career in the Recruitment Technology industry. She joins us from Erecruit where she was the Group Marketing Director, and has known Volcanic since the early days when she was responsible for another cool rec-tech start-up, TempBuddy, which was recently acquired by our partners at Bullhorn.
We are excited to go into the new year with Rachael onboard and are looking forward to doing some fantastic work with her.
Welcome to the team, Rachael!
